In February 2007, as part of Richmond’s effort to gain recognition as a Tree City USA, Richmond Mayor, Connie Lawson, and the Richmond City Commission approved an ordinance forming the Richmond Tree Advisory Board.

Tree City USA is an important designation recognizing communities all over the country that have made the highest level of commitment to proper landscaping and stewardship of their urban forest.

The seven-member board is made up of citizen volunteers from many different fields, all with a common passion, as described in our mission statement: “To beautify Richmond and Madison County through education, promotion and implementation of proper planting and landscaping practices.”
